Ted Scanlon teaches at Avalon Music Studios
Ted Scanlon began teaching himself to play the guitar when he was twelve, and he’s never looked back. After twenty years of playing he decided to study his passion and recently graduated with honors from the music degree program at Wenatchee Valley College. With a formal education in music that includes guitar performance and technique, music theory, song writing, ear and vocal training, and piano, he can also offer his guitar students a learning experience that includes a fundamental education in music. Ted’s lessons are always geared towards each of his student’s personal musical goals and he’s eager to teach anyone, regardless of age or ability. His guitar playing consists mostly of rock, jazz, blues, fingerstyle and pop, so his knowledge of technique spans a wide variety of different genres and styles. Ted currently performs as a vocalist and guitar accompanist for the WVC Chamber Choir, and is also a member of his church’s worship band and youth ministry program. He has performed in front of audiences at the Town Toyota Center, the Performing Arts Center, Canyon Wren and many other local venues, including his favorite, at home for his wife and three kids. Ted works from both an in-home studio in Wenatchee and a studio at Avalon Music. When he isn’t playing his guitar, he’s usually writing, listening, or talking about music with anyone willing to listen.
“My focus as a guitar instructor is to help my students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for music, and to give them the encouragement and guidance to reach their goals with their playing.”

Dan's Teaching Goals:
I love to teach. Helping my students learn a new skill, or to enhance existing skills, is a blessing. To watch my students grow as musicians and see their musical knowledge, skill and artistry advance is truly wonderful and rewarding.
I teach all different styles of guitar and introduce my students to new musical ideas and genres. I teach theory and practical applications to give my students the ability to understand the musical expressions of others, as well as start development of their own individual style.
Dan accepts students of all ages and levels of ability.
