May is Our 20th Anniversary! It's a Celebration!

This month marks the 20th anniversary of Avalon Music opening its doors to North Central Washington.  Check out our story.  Although we'll be celebrating all month with some daily deals, our real celebration is on May 18 and May 19.

On Friday evening, May 18, at 6:00 pm, Avalon Music will be kicking-off the celebration with a drumset clinic with recording artist and drummer extraordinaire Garey Williams.  Garey is endorsed by Vic Firth, LP, Remo. Sabian and DW, and you’ll learn why.  He is an incredible educator and a truly gifted percussionist.  There is a $5 admission fee that’s good for $5 off on any Avalon Music purchase of $25 or more.  Plus, there will be door prizes, including a cymbal from Sabian.  Garey’s clinics have always been standing room only, so please call and reserve a spot.

The real party is all day on Saturday, May 19, with hot dogs on the BBQ and soda pop.  We’ll have manufacturing representatives there to give you the latest information on all their products – and special pricing on everything in the store.

We know you love giveaways and our partners are chomping at the bit to make this huge celebration full of great door prizes!  So far, we’ve received a 15” Sabian AAX crash cymbal from our buddies at Sabian, an absolutely cool Aura Delay pedal from the acoustic guitar geniuses at Fishman, an acoustic guitar from our long-time partners at Chesbro Music, and a huge assortment of drum heads and accessories from our friends Aquarian.  Not to be outdone, ESP Guitars, who makes some of the coolest guitars on the planet, just let us know there might be an LTD electric guitar on the way!  And we may just happen to have a Marshall MG amp and a Fender Champion 600 amp in the mix.  Oh, and we’ll have t-shirts and guitar strings, too.  And there will be more - just keep checking in here, on Facebook or on Twitter.  Whooo, I’m tired just writing all this.  It will be awesome!

But we didn’t stop there.  We’ll have a live blues jam rockin’ the parking lot from noon until 4 pm.  And at 2:00 pm there will be our first ever Shred Contest.  Yes, a Shred Contest.  Each participant has 60 seconds to lay his – or her – best shredding on us.  Let the fingers bleed!  Just bring your guitar and any pedals you need - we’ll have amplifiers to choose from.  We’ll be video recording the entire Shred Contest and we’ll post the video here to our website, on Facebook and on Twitter.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.  So make sure and let us know.  Call or come by the store to sign up for the blues jam and the Shred Contest, we’re limiting both to 20 people.

This is our way of saying “thank you” to the friends we’ve made for 20 years.  Let’s rock the Wenatchee Valley the entire month of May!

New Low Watt Tube Amps Rock!

Remember the days when a guitarist used a 100 watt amplifier full-stack or half-stack for performing or a “compact” 50 watt 2x12” combo.  I do.  Back in the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s I used a 100 watt Marshall full-stack and a Fender Twin Reverb with a Dual Showman 2-15” extension cabinet.  I drove a van just so I could get my gear to practices and gigs.

There are still venues and musical styles that require these volume monsters, but manufacturers are now providing guitarists with truly compact tube amps that have terrific tone and provide all the volume needed for practices and stage monitoring.  Put a classic Shure SM57 mic or a Sennheiser E609 or E906 on the amp and get all the performance volume that’s needed.  Plus, the prices for these little tone monsters have made great amps affordable.

Class A tube amps with 5 watts of power are made by Marshall, Vox and Epiphone.  And using digital technology there are terrific sounding 15 watt and 30 watt tube hybrid amps, like the Vox Valvetronix and Valve Reactor series, that replicate the sound and responsiveness of true tube amps.

Avalon Music has a great selection of these compact amps and here’s some video links to learn more.

Korg, Marshall and Vox is On the Way!

Our NAMM order is in! And after a terrific 2009 we're replenishing our 2010 inventory from Korg, Marshall and Vox.  A shipment of new Korg tuners and metronomes is on its way, as well as another shipment of the incredibly popular Korg SP-250 digital pianos.  If you want to be on our waiting list for one of these $699 gems, which includes the stand, music holder and piano-style foot switch, please call.

In addition to Korg products, we'll be receiving some exciting new products from Vox.  One of our favorites is the Vox Amplug Cabinet.  Instead of using headphones with your Vox Amplug, create a portable mini amplifier!  For under $50!

For those you who love the classic sound of  Vox AC15 and Vox AC30 guitar amplifiers- and who doesn't? - we'll have the brand new Vox AC15VR and Vox AC30VR "Valve Reactor" versions of the classic amps.  All Vox.  All Vox AC tone.  But at half the price!

And we haven't forgotten our acoustic guitar players and singer-songwriters.  The brand new Vox AGA70, a 70W, two channel acoustic guitar amp, featuring a tube pre-amp, will be here in February.  With two true channels for guitar and mic, phantom power, anti-feedback, chorus and reverb FX, stereo inputs for backing tracks, and a built-in DI.  Whew!  That's a lot of amplifier for the Avalon Music price of under $400.00!

Last but certainly not least are the Marshall amplifiers we have coming for all you tone monsters out there.  The Class 5 tube screamer and the MA50C all tube combo amp are Marshall tone at its finest.   Both at very affordable prices.

But the big surprise is the new line of modeling amps from Marshall, and we have our order in when they are released in February!  These amps combine digital technology with tube power and incredibly duplicate the tone and dynamic response of 16 Marshall amplifiers and effects, including the historic 1959, 1974, JCM800 2203, DSL100, JVM410H and JMP-1.  Plus there is on-board effects.  With the JMD Foot Controller you'll have configurations that include 6 "stomp boxes," 28 preset channels of amplifier and FX, as well as FX Loop and Tap Tempo, all at your feet.

2010 is starting off with great things at Avalon Music - thanks to our very good and very creative friends at Korg, Vox and Marshall!

Avalon Music Stimulus Package Report

It was recently announced that the Wenatchee Valley economy is no longer in a recession, but the local is just "skidding along the bottom."  We believe that's hogwash - but then we are "glass half-full people."  So this is just a reminder that Avalon Music has had its own economic stimulus package - and, wow, has it worked.  Sales are up over 2008!

All our Line 6 Spider III amps are gone, but we have all the brand-new Spider IV amps with tons of new features.  We have a limited supply of last year's Vox and Marshall amplifiers at unspeakable prices, as well as the new tone monster VT series amps from Vox with every built in effect you can imagine, the Vox all-tube AC4, the brand new multi-channel MG series from Marshall with that tone only a Marshall can have, and the new all-tube Marshall Haze mini-stack and combo.  Whew!

Our "Why Rent When You Can Buy for Less" student band instrument promotion is still going strong - with flutes, clarinets and trumpets flying out the door.  We'll be announcing our orchestra instrument program in just a few days.

Have you checked out our percussion department?  Drum kits from Sonor and Pearl at every popular configuration and price point, tons of cymbals, hardware and accessories at slashed prices, and one of the best hand percussion selections around.

Oh, and bass players we have not forgot you!  If you want to move up to SWR Pro or Working Pro gear, then we have some unbelievable prices on this top of the line bass amplification.

And there are only 5 days left for our Bose L1 promotion - buy a Bose L1 and get a free subwoofer - and the Fender American rebate of $100, and get a Players Package with a purchase of a Martin gloss top guitar.  Plus, we're still running our promotions for free tom promotion for Pearl Vision drums.

Help us show the people "in the know" that the Wenatchee Valley economy is strong and that great products, competitive prices and outstanding customer service are the key.
