Moving Day is Here!

The building is complete and getting the final inspection today -with the landscaping inspection tomorrow.  We're moving on Saturday!  We'll be doing our best to get everything done this weekend and be back in business on Monday at our original location.  We have been so blessed by having a terrific architect, M.J. Neal & Associates, a great contractor, Randy Zielinski and Whitebird Construction, who has the perfect project superintendent in Andy, and a long list of local, quality subcontractors.  Here are some photos.  The rest are on our Facebook page.  Woo-hoo!

   

10 Days to Go!

Everything is coming together on the new building - like a whirlwind!  We're running around like crazy taking care of finishing details and scheduling delivery and installation of new counters, displays, wall treatments, utilities and exterior signs.  Details.  Details. Details.

The building is beautifu - at least to us.  After almost fifteen years in our old, cramped, dark and leaky building are truly feeling blessed and grateful.  We have a parking lot, glass in the doors and windows, carpet and teaching studios with nice big winows and doors.  Take a look at these photos!

Three Weeks to Go!

Nothing truly remarkable in terms of visual progress, but the entryway has been completed and the interior has been painted.  Roof shingles waiting for install.  It is really looking good.  We've been organizing the ordering and delivery of new front counters, displays, slat wall panels, acoustical panels, signage . . . . and on and on.  Three weeks for it to all come together.  Yoo-hoo!

    

We Have Drywall!

So the new building has drywall!  From here on out, as we get the texturing, painting, electrical, plumbing, and floor coverings in, there won't be much to report - at least visually.  We'll post a building report if something cool appears!  For now we want you to know that we are on track for our August reopening!

 

A Little Over a Month to Go!

Sorry it has been almost two weeks since our last building progress update, but rough-in HVAC, plumbing and electrical work is not particularly exciting to photograph. :>) But now we have insulation in, drywall going up and a parking lot getting ready for asphalt! That's exciting! Less than five weeks to go. Wooo-hooooo!

We've received terrific feedback from musicians who we connected to club owners for gigs or with other musicians, so don't forget to check out the listings for performers/musicians and the classified ads.  

Also, we've been getting kudos for our collection of on-line product videos.  Some are pretty cool and some are hilarious - especially the Mackie videos.

Remember, this is a community website for musicians by musicians.  Let us know what you want to see here and we'll do our best to make it happen.  Live more . . . musically.

Summer is Here, July 4 Means Music, and We Have a Roof!

Well the summer solstice has come and gone and we're now officially in summer.  We knew it must be here, because sales are hot at Avalon Music with some terrific deals - and our Anniversary Celebration 10% discount (for just posting to this website) is taken off AFTER those killer prices!  Wooohooo!

Summer also means there is a tremendous selection of live music performances throughout North Central Washington.  Here in Wenatchee check out the concerts every Friday night at Centennial Park and the Thursday night concerts at Ohme Gardens.  As we approach 4th of July weekend . . . Freedom Fest will be in Leavenwortk both Saturday and Sunday with music, food and fun . . . there will be music at Walla Walla Point Park on July 4 . . .  are several other events in North Central Washington.  Check out our Community Calendar to learn what's happening in the music arts.  If you have an event you want included on our calendar, just let us know.

The building project just keeps getting closer and closer to being done.  We have a roof!  The HVAC, rough electrical and plumbing is almost done, and the interior framing is complete.  By the end of next week we should have drywall being put up.  Here are some photos.

   

Building Update!

We are 55 days away from completion. Now the details for the interior, new displays, and new inventory are being scheduled and coordinated. You can see the framing for downstairs teaching studios in one or two of the photos. The roof trusses you see will remain exposed and the store should have an open, well lit atmosphere.

We're getting lots of great suggestions for the Grand Re-Opening Celebration in August.  Keep them coming!  You can post them here on our website as a comment or a General Discussion post, or on our Facebook site.

Building Progress Report and Wenatchee World Article

So the basic exterior of the building is now complete. Beams for the roof trusses are in place and the joist system for the mezzanine is complete. This coming week should be interesting, as the roof trusses should be added and we'll see more of the interior develop.

Building Update

Well the window openings have taken shape, the roof line is starting to appear, and within the next week the roof and mezzanine will be started.  See the progress here.

Here are photos of the progress on the walls - as of late this afternoon. They are scheduled to be completed by the end of next week.  So, less than 75 days until moving in . . . yeee-hah!

We're Making Progress!

Well the footings and foundations are done, the sewer is in, the new PUD transformer is in, the conduit for floor AC outlets and data are in place, and the concrete slab is poured.  Whew!  It took a a couple of weeks after the initial earthwork, but we're finally ready to start putting up the walls!  Only 96 days to go!

   

The Building is Starting!

The ground work is almost all done and the first footings have been poured. Sweet! Just 111 days and we'll be open.

One of the most important questions we have for you is, What events would you like to see as part of the Grand Opening for the new store?  You gotta let us know, because everything we do at Avalon Music is for musicians, by musicians.

It's gone! In the blink of an eye - well at least a long blink that took around 6 hours - the old Avalon Music building is history. Here are the pics:

We're Moving!

Hey, everybody in Wenatchee! Avalon Music will be moving from our current location at 532 North Wenatchee Ave. during the week of April 6 to a temporary location across the street. (Behind Hart's Fish 'n' Chips in the old Rocky's building.) We're tearing down the building. A new one - in the same location - should be done by mid-August with lots more space, an expanded inventory, five teaching studios, a performance area for clinics, a new repair center, and more! Until then, please stop by, say hello, and watch them tear down the old building!

Moving Day 1

We just finished our first day of moving. We are all beat. About half the store has been moved and we'll definitely finish tomorrow, Wednesday.

We are exhausted! But we're almost finished with the move. We'll be open for business tomorrow while we're setting everything up. I'll post photos tomorrow night. Good night.

Moving Day 3

Well. we're pretty much done. Wow. That was a lot of work . . . and we get to do it all over again this coming August! Hopefully the move to the new store will be easier.

Hope the sign helps people find us!

We're set for business, withEmptiness computers running and inventory all in one location, although we might need to search for stuff if you need something specific. :>)
